A tough operation! |
|||
Barry Fairbrother, a 52 year old Consultant Surgeon at the King's Mill Centre for Health Care Services in Nottinghamshire, England, swapped his white coat for a 'yellow jersey' when he undertook a week-long charity Alpine 'Tour-de-France' cycling trip. The 740 km route took him across the Alps from Thonon-les-Baines, near Geneva to Antibes in the sun-soaked south of France to raise funds for children's hospitals in the impoverished Russian city of St.Petersburg. It was a tough ride for him as faced many of the mountains which are featured in the Tour-de-France, including the Iseran, Mont Cenis and Restefond. A keen cyclist, Barry, cycles weekly to the hospital where he works, from his home in Sheffield, about 50 km. web design webmaster 1999 update sept 2003 |
